Rushing McCarl LLP is at the forefront of the legal fight against caste discrimination in American companies.
The South Asian caste system creates what Dr. B.R. Ambedkar called a “descending scale of contempt” in which members of oppressed castes are condescended to, humiliated, and excluded from opportunities based on who their parents are. Caste discrimination remains a fact of life in India and throughout the Indian diaspora — including in Silicon Valley. That’s why Rushing McCarl filed a legal brief on behalf of the Ambedkar International Center in a landmark case contending that caste discrimination is illegal under California law, and why we gave a presentation about the issue to the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Justice, and other federal agencies.
If you have been discriminated against based on your caste, or if you are an employer interested in taking steps to root out caste discrimination in your workplace, contact us.
